BIO
curtis william readel was born in ottumwa, iowa. in 2004, he received a BFA
in printmaking from the university of iowa. as a second year MFA candidate at
northern illinois university's printmaking department, curtis is actively involved in
developing work responding to interests in historical and contemporary socio-political
issues and their effects on individuals and groups. through personal and observed
experiences, his prints create a satiric commentary based on traditional and current
techniques. in the past year, he has shown in the surrounding area and overseas,
exhibiting in chicago, new york, iowa, virginia, manchester (uk), denmark,
argentina, estonia and has several exhibitions slated for new zealand, germany and the
unkited kingdom. in october of 2007, Curtis was one of seven american artists selected
to have work shown at the 14th international Tallinn Print Triennial. while there he
received a diploma of excellence exhibiting "great promise and talent in the field of printmaking."
